For the second time this season, Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.) has swept Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference weekly softball honors with junior Ashley Dau (Chicago Heights, Ill.) gaining pitcher of the week accolades and senior second baseman Laura Simunic (Whiting, Ind.) earning player of the week status for the seven-day period ending April 13.
For Dau, it is the second time that she has garnered the distinction this spring. She was also recognized for her play during the week ending March 23.
Dau tossed the Wave's first no-hitter of the season in a 20-1 victory over Mount Mary College (Wis.) on April 12. She struck out seven batters in the contest opposite two walks and allowed the one earned run in the five-inning contest.
Dau pitched in three of Calumet's four games on the week, where the Wave went 1-3. She went 1-2 with a 3.50 earned run average.
Simunic just missed hitting .500 for the week going 5-for-11 at the plate (.455), including a 4-for-4 day against Mount Mary with one double and one triple. She also scored four runs and drove in four more in the victory
Simunic matched her five hits during the week with five runs scored, while stealing a pair of bases.
The 1-3 week left Calumet St. Joseph 13-17 on the season and 2-11 in league play.
