CHICAGO --- In a high-caliber field that featured five NAIA men's cross country programs ranked among the top 21 in the nation and all 12 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference institutions that sponsor the sport, Robert Morris University's Mizael Carrera (Northlake, Ill.) came out on top at the NAIA Great Lakes Regional on Saturday and with it came CCAC Runner of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Carrera edged out University of St. Francis' Phil Rizzo by 1.61 seconds to win the meet, which included 34 teams and 351 runners.  Carrera's time of 24:49.10 also served as a personal-best mark for the sophomore and was just six seconds off the school's all-time top reading.

Robert Morris as a team placed 16th in a field that included NAIA No. 3 St. Francis, No. 6 Shawnee State University (Ohio), No. 10 Aquinas College (Mich.), No. 20 Cornerstone University (Mich.) and No. 21 Indiana Wesleyan University.

Carrera's honor marks the second time this season that he has earned the weekly distinction.  The first time came during the week ending Sept. 9, which was the second week of the season.
