CHICAGO --- Racing well against elite competition for the second time in three weeks, University of St. Francis senior Phil Rizzo (Evergreen Park, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the seven-day period ending Sept. 30.
In a meet featuring teams from all three NCAA divisions as well as the NAIA, Rizzo placed 39th overall out of 255 competitors and fourth-best among non-NCAA I runners at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday. His time of 24:35 was also a personal-best 8k effort.
Rizzo's performance, which earned him the league's weekly accolades for the second time this season, enabled the Saints to place 16th overall and first among NAIA competition at the 31-team event.
USF is ranked third in the nation.
