CHICAGO --- The top NAIA runner in the field and the third-fastest overall after a record-setting performance at the Elmhurst College Earlybird Invitational, Illinois Tech's Abby Jahn has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Runner of the Week, it was announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
Jahn, a sophomore from Wasilla, Alaska, ran the four-kilometer course at Eldridge Park in a school-record 14:50 on Friday to lead the Scarlet Hawks to a fourth-place team finish. Jahn's showing also helped IIT establish a new team record for the fastest finish over that distance.
A total of 165 runners representing 16 teams competed in the race.
