CHICAGO, Ill. --- Judson University's Angie Bianchi (Elmhurst, Ill.) authored a pair of hat tricks, while University of St. Francis' Ann Zajda (Plainfield, Ill.) keyed two shutouts for the Saints to earn Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors on Tuesday.
Bianchi, a sophomore forward, tallied three goals in both a 6-0 victory over University of Saint Francis (Ind.) and a 15-0 decision against AIB (Iowa) to earn the offensive distinction. She also collected two and five assists, respectively, in those same games to finish with 19 total points for the seven-day period.
Zajda, a senior defender, garnered the recognition on defense. In a 5-0 victory over Lawrence Tech University (Mich.) on Saturday, Zajda helped keep the Blue Devils from taking a shot on goal and managing just one shot total. Four days earlier in a 1-0 win over Indiana Institute of Technology, she aided a defense that limited the Warriors to only eight shots on goal and 12 shots total.
In both games, Zajda and the Saints shut down a player who had tallied three goals in her team's previous contest.
Both Judson and St. Francis are 2-0 to start the campaign with the former being ranked No. 14 nationally.
