
Trinity Christian College's Will Bruinsma (New Era, Mich.), the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week, averaged better than a point per minute and 25.0 points per game off the bench in two contests, enabling the Trolls to jump out to a 2-0 start in league play during the seven-day period ending January 13.
Bruinsma, a sophomore guard, produced 50 points in 49 minutes over the two games, commencing with a season-high 26 points in 24 minutes in a 77-61 victory over Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) on Jan. 9. Bruinsma nailed five three-pointers in seven attempts that night before hitting six in 10 tries three nights later (Jan. 12) vs. Purdue University Calumet (Ind.).
There, Bruinsma totaled 24 points in 25 minutes of action in a 79-59 victory.
All told, Bruinsma sank 11 of his 17 three-point attempts (64.7 percent) for the week, while shooting 48.5 percent overall from the field (16-of-33).
Among his other numbers in the two games were five assists and three rebounds.
Trinity Christian jumped back over the .500 mark with the two wins, improving to 10-8 overall.
