CHICAGO --- Like they did in sharing the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular-season volleyball title with identical 11-1 records, Olivet Nazarene University and Saint Xavier University came away with matching numbers on the postseason honors front when the annual awards were announced Saturday night.

Not only did both programs earn a league-high five spots between the all-conference first and second teams, but both boasted the player of the year when junior outside hitter Kayla Mullaney (Elmhurst, Ill.) of Saint Xavier and senior libero DeeAnn Garvin (Bloomington, Ind.) of Olivet Nazarene were announced as the recipients.

Mullaney led the conference in kills per game (3.69) during the regular season, while attacking at a .265 clip. She also ranked in the top ten in service aces per game (0.37) and turned in a .936 reception percentage.

Garvin, meanwhile, ranked first in the conference in digs with 766 and digs per game with 5.59, which was nearly one dig per game more than her next closest challenger. She also turned in a .968 receiving percentage with only 23 errors in 708 total attempts.

Those numbers helped Garvin snag the award as the top libero in the conference, as well.

Saint Xavier did, however, gain one advantage over the Tigers by earning a league-best four first-team selections with Olivet Nazarene gaining three spots.

Trinity Christian College also earned three first-team spots with two of those going to the league's setter of the year in senior Melanie Lawrence (Mokena, Ill.) and the freshman of the year in outside hitter Jessica Wiltjer (Lansing, Ill.). Lawrence's 9.62 assist per game average was second best in the league, while Wiltjer placed second in blocks per game (1.12) and third in attack percentage (.327).

Trinity Christian added one representative on the second team for four total selections, or one more than University of St. Francis, Cardinal Stritch University, Illinois Institute of Technology and Robert Morris University. The latter captured its first-ever CCAC Tournament title on Saturday night rallying from two games down to defeat Trinity Christian College, 14-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-18, 15-10.

Judson University and Trinity International University were also represented on the postseason award list with one selection on the second team each.

Fourteen players were chosen for each team with 28 players in all being honored.

Saint Xavier's Bob Heersema was named the CCAC Coach of the Year after leading the Cougars to one of their best seasons in school history going 29-4 during the regular season.
